Jean-François Chaumont (1950-2017)

Jean-François Chaumont (1950-2017)
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the loss of Jean-François Chaumont. Jean-François was best known as the long-time promoter and organiser of the Spa 24 Hours. He started working for the Belgian endurance classic in 1978, and for three decades he headed the organisation committee.

Chaumont brought the Spa 24 Hours from the touring car era into the GT era at the beginning of the 21st century, at the moment when a close-knit relation with the SRO Motorsports Group began. When SRO took over the promotion and organisation of the Total 24 Hours of Spa – at the start of the Blancpain Endurance Series – Jean-François still shared his wealth of experience to further develop the event.

Jean-François Chaumont also co-organised with Renaud Jeanfils the unique Baku World Challenge, which served as season finale for the FIA GT Series in 2013 and the Blancpain Sprint Series in 2014.

Stephane Ratel and the SRO Motorsports Group would like to express their sincere condolences to Jean-François’s family and his many friends.
