Series leader Laurens Vanthoor was quick to set the fastest time in the second free practice of the day at Moscow Raceway. The Belgian lapped almost a second quicker than during the first free practice earlier today, clocking a 1'37.501. Ten minutes before the end of the session, Vanthoor ended up in the barriers however, losing control over his #1 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT R8 at the turn 8 chicane.
In the end it was another Audi-driver, Christopher Mies in the #2, that clocked the second fastest time, only 0.079 of a second slower than Vanthoor's time. Mies pushed the #88 Reiter Engineering Lamborghini of Nick Catsburg to third, with the top-14 cars ending up within the same second.
Jules Szymkowiak was fastest Silver Cup driver, setting the sixth time overall in the #83 Bentley Team HTP Continental, while fastest Pro-Am driver was again Marko Asmer in the #71 GT Russian Team Mercedes.
Action resumes on Saturday, with the qualifying session at 9 am.
