Rowe Racing hands Martin Endurance Cup return at Silverstone
Blancpain GT Series race winner and 2012 runner-up Maxime Martin heads the list of fresh faces competing in round two of the 2016 Endurance Cup at Silverstone this weekend.

The Belgian’s previous GT exploits earned him a factory BMW DTM drive two years ago, and it is with the same manufacturer that he makes his championship return after teaming up with Rowe Racing’s Alexander Sims and Philipp Eng aboard the Pro Cup-entered #99 M6 GT3.

Martin contested the opening Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup round of the year with Boutsen Ginion Racing at Misano in April but has not appeared in an Endurance Cup event since last season’s Total 24 Hours of Spa.

Elsewhere, reigning Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Daniel Cammish samples his first taste of GT3 machinery after a late call up to race Konrad Motorsport’s Lamborghini Huracan. The 27-year-old originally expected to contest Silverstone’s Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo round but has been promoted to the main event alongside regular Pro Cup drivers Jules Gounon and Christopher Zochling.

“I only received the call yesterday evening so it has been a bit hectic!” said the Briton, who won both Porsche Carrera Cup GB races held at Silverstone in April. “I have known the team since 2014 and entered a few German Porsche Carrera Cup rounds with them last season, but the Lamborghini and GT3 class are both new to me. I am expecting the Huracan to accelerate and brake a lot quicker than the Porsche Cup car I have raced for the last few years, but hopefully I will be up to speed pretty quickly.”

All of that means 11 manufacturers, 53 cars and 157 drivers will take part in round two of the 2016 Endurance Cup, as well as the fourth overall Blancpain GT Series event of the season.

The hour-long Bronze Test gets the weekend underway at 09:00 tomorrow before free practice (10:55 - 12:25) and pre-qualifying (16:30 - 18:00) later in the day.
