5 Questions to... Michael Meadows

To help you bridge the gap towards the next Blancpain GT Series event at Le Castellet (June 24th-25th), we thought it interesting to have a word with some of our drivers. First up in this series of '5 Questions to...' is the man who took the Silver Cup pole position at the season opener in Misano, Belgian Audi Club Team WRT-driver Michael Meadows.

What do you think of the level of the 2016 Blancpain GT Series?

"The Blancpain GT Series is now the most competitive series in the world of motorsport, I believe. As a driver, it is the best place to to prove yourself."

What is the most pleasing aspect of driving the WRT Audi?

"The understanding of the strategy and ability the team have to make quick decisions impressed me the most. Even if we don't have the fastest car at some circuits, we try to maximise our strengths."

What's the biggest difference with the Aston Martin you were driving the last couple of seasons?

"The Aston was not a bad car, but it wasn't capable of winning. I think any of the cars on their day can be quick, it is more about the team making the right calls and finding space in qualifying."

You did not have the easiest of starts to the season, was that mainly due to bad luck?

"Some of it was bad luck. Silverstone was nearly very good, but then we got a drive-through penalty. It's tough to always be at the front in this series, but we are turning it around. Hopefully Spa will be perfect."

Do you have any specific ambitions for the upcoming races?

"No specific targets, we'll just try to maximise our package. If that is P1 or P10, then we will have to accept that. It is now that we start thinking about Spa more, so I will take winning there as my main ambition for now."
