For a couple of years now, there has been a tight link between the Total 24 Hours of Spa and the world of music. Ever since the exclusive Saturday night concert at the Lotto Village became an integral part of the event, there has been an increasing interest from musicians in the event, also from those who have not (yet) been on stage at the Lotto Village.
No wonder then that the members from Linkin Park were more than happy to come up with a livery for the #00 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of AMG-Team Black Falcon, the car driven by Maro Engel, Yelmer Buurman and double Spa-winner Bernd Schneider. The striking silver-and-red livery will certainly be among the favourites with the fans.
The Linkin Park band-members were eager to see the car in action as well and decided to travel to the Belgian Ardennes to see the race. They will even fly the Belgian flag, to give the start of the 68th edition of the Total 24 Hours of Spa.
Two of the DJ's performing during the Saturday night concert will also be present on the starting grid. Swiss performer Quentin Mosimann knows the event very well and was happy to revisit Spa, while Belgian Henri PFR will be proud to see the greatest GT race of the planet being held on home soil.
They will get the company of another big racing fan: Mel Gaynor, drummer of the Simple Minds. Gaynor visited the Blancpain GT Series-round at Silverstone and was so impressed that he even attended the Official Test Day in Spa at the beginning of July. Nobody on earth could have kept him away from the big race itself.
The presence of so many great musicians on the starting grid of the Total 24 Hours of Spa can only mean one thing: come Saturday July 30th, the roar of almost 70 GT3-engines will be music to their - and your! - ears...
