Since the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is new for a big part of the drivers and teams participating in the California 8 Hours, the circuit organised a test session on the eve of the meeting. Audi Sport Team Land proved to be quickest.
The 11-turn Californian circuit is not the easiest of tracks to get to grips with. That’s why teams and drivers entered in the Mazda Raceway California 8 Hours were happy to participate in a 100-minute test session on the eve of the Friday’s first official session. The test session went largely incident free, with the #29 Audi Sport Team Land R8 setting the quickest time in 1’24.293. The green-and-white machine proved to be just over a tenth of second quicker than both RealTime Racing Acura NSX cars.
The #58 Porsche Motorsport North America by Wright Motorsport machine completed the most laps, 55 in total. In GT4 the timesheets were topped by the #3 TRG Aston Martin, from the #99 Automatic Racing Vantage.
Friday sees the Free Practice session (11.00 local time) and the Pre-Qualifying session (15.20).
